Congrats to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Tyler Jorgensen

The new year means new opportunities to upgrade your home design, and beautiful new shots of shutters from homeowners in Oklahoma City and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the winner for January 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of several cities around the country in which homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the season. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from flooding into the home. In Elk Grove as well as in Oklahoma City, that’s a good thing for any design-minded homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block thermal energy, which makes them great for homeowners who experience hot summers or cold winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That means a more comfortable home and cash back in your pocket every month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s new shutters also take advantage of some newer home design trends. Neutral-hued backgrounds such as her beige wall are becoming extremely fashionable, with differing instances of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–providing points of interest throughout the room. Offered in different white and off-white colors, plantation shutters can fill a great niche in contemporary interior design.

As our winner, Katie wins a $100 gift card to a local restaurant, as well as getting her awesome shutters featured alongside our previous winners.
